Yes, this is very true, and something I was very concerned about at the time. When it happened, there was no chance of getting her to a vet, as none were open – which is why I cast the horary at all. Fortunately, kitty is perfectly fine several months later, and is happily sunning herself on my desk right now.

This particular story is one of those ones that is mostly amusing in retrospect

Oh FFS you’re lucky your cat isn’t dead. My vet said that cats and dogs swallowing wire or string can be deadly, it can wrap around folds in their intestine and give them a fatal stricture. Wire is even more dangerous, it can puncture their intestine. He told me dental floss and metal tinsel are both especially dangerous.

Please watch your cat carefully for signs of illness and consider taking it to a vet if even minor problems develop.

I must tell you this article is the most captivating and very well described as to what a scorpion is about! I`m a woman scorpio and have visited many sites regarding scorpios and I can truely say I now understand a bit more about myself and what I`m going thru and why! Thanks very well put into words.

Nope, its ‘dào’, in Pinyin – pronounced with a Chinese unaspirated sound that is a cross between a ‘d’ and a ‘t’, and articulated weakly (a lenis). It is written as ‘d’ in modern Romanisation.

‘T’ in Mandarin has a distinct hard sound, and is treated as a separate letter. The Wade-Giles system (where words like ‘Tao’, ‘Peking’ etc come from) contains a number of ‘Anglicisations’ – these days, Pinyin (Dào, Běijīng) is considered more phonetically accurate.

I would agree, scarily enough. He’d be a brilliant operative of any stripe, if he is able to overcome his disdain of legal authority.
